My Tab

A shared expense tracker for friends, roommates and trips. Log who paid, see who owes what, and square up in the fewest payments, without the awkward math.

The My Tab wordmark and the line "Keep a tab with your people" next to the welcome and home screens on kraft paper
Client
My own product (in development)
Scope
App design and development for iOS and Android
Built with
Expo, React Native, Expo Router, TypeScript

My Tab is my own product and is still in development. One codebase runs on iOS and Android, and it uses demo data while the backend is built. The people and amounts in these screens are made up.

A tab for a lake house trip printed like a receipt, next to the Groceries item showing who paid and each person's share, on coral, under the line "Who paid, who owes, at a glance"
Every tab reads like a receipt. Each item shows who covered it and everyone's share, and one item can be paid back on its own.
The Close tab screen listing three payments to close, next to the Friends list of netted balances, on black, with a red TAB CLOSED stamp
Instead of “settle up”, you close the tab. My Tab works out the fewest payments, nets what you owe each friend across every tab, and closes the tab by itself when the last payment is confirmed.
Three phones on kraft paper: adding a $64 item split four ways, the home screen with what you're owed, and the activity feed, under the line "Ring it up in seconds"
Adding an item takes the amount, what it was for and who paid, split equally, exactly or by percent. Home totals what you're owed and what you owe, and Activity shows what friends add.
The My Tab design kit: kraft, paper, ink, coral and blue colours, Bricolage Grotesque and DM Mono type, a receipt card with an OPEN stamp, and buttons
The receipt design kit: kraft paper, receipt cards with a torn edge, a mono face for line items, and a stamp for each tab's status.

Let’s build something.
